Turkey's first nudist hotel plan hits hitch !

What was billed as the Muslim world's first nudist hotel has been forced to close, just six days after it opened.

It was shut after a local authority inspection which found that one of the balconies did not conform to the architect's drawings.

The first 12 sparsely-clad guests at the 64-room resort in Datca on the Turkish Riviera have had to be moved to more conventional accommodation.

The hotel owner said he hoped to modify the balcony and re-open by Wednesday.

Entrepreneur Ahmed Kosar, a 15-year veteran of the Turkish tourism industry, told the BBC that he was always looking for new niches to exploit in the $20bn (£13.6bn) business, and that a number of European clients at his other hotels had expressed an interest in nudism.

The resort was constructed in a quiet spot on the Datca peninsula, east of the popular resort of Marmaris.

It offers guests the opportunity to bare all around the pool, or to take a special shuttle bus to a private beach where nudity is tolerated.

Mr Kosar said he was campaigning to re-open the hotel, and argued that many other hotels in the area have been allowed to continue operating despite not getting some of the many different licences required in Turkey.

It took him two years to build, and he said there were no objections from the local inhabitants, provided the naked tourists confined themselves to the grounds of the resort and the private beach.

The hotel is only open to foreigners - Turks are not allowed to stay - and the staff, nearly all male, keep their clothes on.

Mr Kosar would not be drawn on the subject of whether officials from the governing AK Party were behind the closure - the party is frequently accused of quietly implementing a conservative Muslim agenda in many parts of Turkey.

But he said that if his project continued to be blocked, he would consider moving it to another country like Croatia or northern Cyprus.

Хотел, който ще обслужва само нудисти в егейския курорт Датча, получи подкрепата на местните жители. Отворен изключително за чужденци, нудисткият хотел Адабурну Гьолмар, който ще отвори врати на 1 май 2010 г., е построен на 14 хиляди кв.м. на първа линия на брега и на 15 километра от центъра на Датча. Това ще е първият хотел за нудисти в Турция и местните жители в Датча са развълнувани от възможността.

Селма Юнал, член на Търговската и промишлена палата на окръг Мугла, отбеляза, че Датча е защитена зона и е невъзможно легловата база да бъде увеличена. “Дори и да е туристически обект, всяка сграда в Датча трябва да е до триетажна,” каза 41-годишната бизнес дама. “При тези обстоятелства, хотел в нишата на нудисткия туризъм е много добра идея. Подкрепям всяка стъпка, която ще доведе повече туристи в Датча, и разнообразяването на целевата клиентела е предимство в туристическия сектор”. Юнал казва, че всеки хотел трябва да бъде уникален, какъвто е нудисткият хотел, и че по този начин делът на Датча от туристическия пай ще нарасне.

Архитектът, проектирал първия по рода си нудистки хотел в Турция, Абдуллах Ишджанъ заяви, че комплексът е разположен близо до най-важната туристическа зона на Датча. “Районът е с обща площ около 5 млн. кв.м., цялата предназначена за туристически обекти,” каза той. “Все още обаче няма достатъчно инвестиции в този район. Семейство Кардемир, собственици на Адабурну Гьолмар и други туристически инвестиции, са пионери тук”, добавя той.

Ишджанъ изтъкна значението на това, че първата инвестиция в района открива един напълно нов туристически пазар. “Трябва да разнообразим туризма доколкото е възможно, така че да се възползваме максимално,” каза той. “Един нудистки хотел е само пример за прицелването към една пазарна ниша. Надявам се, че ще последват и други”.

Новата концепция си е осигурила и подкрепата на местните бизнесмени. Полат Тюнчер, собственик на бижутериен магазин в Датча, отбелязва, че Турция и Датча имат по-голям потенциал за туризъм. “Плуваме в едно и също море и гледаме към същото слънце като гърците, но те са много по-добри от нас в усвояването на туристическия потенциал,” казва 37-годишният мъж. “Гръцките острови в Егейско море привличат хиляди туристи от целия свят благодарение на нудистките си хотели. Смятам, че е време Турция да вземе своя дял”.

Хасан Чине, собственик на магазин в курорта от шест години, смята, че подобни опити трябва да бъдат подкрепени. “Концепцията не е само и единствено за нудизма, освен това голотата е част от живота,” казва 32-годишният Чине. “Как биха могли хора, които плуват голи в басейн в затворен район, да създават проблеми на другите?” Друг собственик на магазин казва, че тъй като Турция преминава през “период на инициативите”, като например “демократичната инициатива” и “арменската инициатива”, откриването на хотел само за нудисти може да бъде смятано за “инициативата на Датча”.

“Както няма значение дали хората са бели или черни, млади или стари, няма и значение дали са облечени или голи в частен хотел,” заяви Реджеп Кара, собственик на бръснарница в Датча от 20 години. “Радвам се за новия хотел. Най-важното е, че туристите в нашия град ще бъдат повече,” добавя той. Орхан Гьонюл, 57-годишен пенсионер, който се е преместил в Датча, след като е работил и живял в Германия 30 години, също подкрепя идеята за нудистки хотел.

“В Германия имаше нудистки хотели, когато работех там, и те не ми навредиха по никакъв начин,” казва той. “Днес милиони турци работят в чужбина. Да не би там да няма нудистки хотели? С какво вреди това?” Гьонюл подкрепя идеята, стига нудизмът да остане зад вратите на комплекса. “Голотата на обществени места е неприемлива където и да било по света”, каза той. “Ако остане вътре или в района на хотела, подкрепям Датча да се сдобие с нудистки хотел”, допълни Гьонюл.

Location

The hotel has an excellent beachfront location on the Datca peninsula and is just 15km from Datca town and about an hour from Marmaris.
The Beach

The beach directly in front of the hotel is a public beach and regrettably not naturist although topless is permitted. The hotel does however provide a regular shuttle service to its own private naturist beach a 20 minute drive away. This is a 600m sand/shingle bay with beach bar, sunbeds and umbrellas (free of charge), showers and toilets. Unlike the hotel, which is situated on the southerly, Mediterranean coast of the Datca peninsula, the private beach is on the northerly, Aegean side. As part of the hotel’s all-inclusive service, lunch and drinks at the beach bar are included. Just close to the private beach are the family’s fields and greenhouses where the produce is grown and chickens are kept for the hotel.
Naturism at Hotel Adaburnu Golmar

The hotel offers nudity within the grounds from 08:00 to 20:00. Whilst guests are expected to cover up indoors, there is a pool bar serving drinks and an outdoor dining terrace by the pool where guests may eat au-naturel. The hotel has its own serviced naturist beach a 20 minute drive away and provides a free shuttle service.
Food & Drink

The hotel has a dining room with outdoor terrace for resident guests as well as an a la carte restaurant open to the public in an evening (after 20:00). There is also a beach bar at the private naturist beach which serves drinks and light lunches included in the all inclusive package. At the hotel there is also a pool bar. The all-inclusive service comprises: Breakfast - large hot and cold buffet served in the hotel from 08:00-10:30 Lunch -buffet served in the hotel from 12:00-13:30 and light lunches (salads, burgers) served at the beach Afternoon Tea - Coffee and cakes, biscuits or Turkish pastries served at the hotel from 16:30-17:30 Dinner - full hot and cold buffet Drinks - from 10:00-22:00 in the hotel and from 10:00-17:00 at the private beach bar, local soft drinks, beer and wine are provided. Facilities

There is a large pool with waterslides and separate children’s section. The sunbathing terraces surrounding the pool are equipped with sunbeds and parasols. There is also a Turkish hammam, a small fitness centre, boules, table tennis and billiard table.
Activities

Keep-fit sessions are held by the pool in the mornings. There is a windsurf school with board rental and bicycle rent nearby (textile and payable).
Entertainment

There is light entertainment in the evening including dancing and karaoke. Once a week there is a Turkish evening with belly dancing and there is also a weekly evening barbecue and camp fire at the private naturist beach. A complimentary excursion is included – this day trip visits a local village, the beautiful Turgutlu waterfall, the ‘walk on water’ phenomenon at Kizkumu and a visit to see how carpets are made and the stories that are woven into the designs.
